Training: “Managing Project with an iterative Process”, AgilePartner March & May 2009

January 20th, 2009

Many steps of project management were already proposed. But the advent of new technologies justifies the search of better adapted methodologies to more dynamic projects; the product of these efforts crystallizes today in the Unified Process (UP) and the agile methods.

Structured around the phases and the activities of the Unified Process, this course shows how you manage a project by following an iterative process. It allows you to acquire the necessary competences with the modern project management: requirements management (identification, follow-up and evolution’s management), risks management, scheduling techniques related to the iterative and incremental development.

Organized around a case of study followed throughout the session, it will provide you the keys of scheduling and project follow-up: ” How to estimate the load and the duration of the project? “, ” How to structure planning? ” , ” How to define the contents of the iterations? ” , ” How to manage Teams? ” , ” How to follow up the project? ” , ” Which assessment to draw? “.

You are going to learn
- Applying  the Unified Process into a software development project
- Positioning UP with other Project Management Methodologies
- Knowing  the terminology, the characteristics and the good practices of UP
- Delimiting the functional perimeter of  a project and identifying  the principal functionalities
- Managing in a proactive way the risks in the software development
- Knowing  the principal methods of macro-estimates and to apply the method of the user’s cases
- Cutting your Project in Phases and Iterations
- Using the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and schedule an Iteration.
- Recognizing the’ importance of test  activities in the iterative development
- Project Management Follow up and reporting
- Organizing the capitalization
